At long last! After nearly 2 years of being forced to create a Google+ account to go along with your YouTube account, Google has officially announced that this will no longer be required in order to leave comments on videos.
In a blog titled “Everything in it’s right place”, Google acknowledged the integration was a mistake stating that “It didn’t make sense for your Google+ profile to be your identity in all the other Google products you use.”
The integration of Google+ and YouTube back in 2013 was universally disliked from the beginning, with the system seeing an influx of spam and troll comments. Many of the website’s personalities spoke strongly against the integration, with even one of YouTube’s cofounders speaking out against the change.
We’re glad common sense finally prevailed, now back to cute animal videos we go.
